Anitha and Anand had been married for 2 years. They are very affectionate towards each other and very passionate about their careers. Anitha is working in a private company and Anand is working as a lecturer.
Since they have been married for 2 years, their relatives and parents are asking only one thing, "When do you have children?". Anitha was not mentally and physically ready to conceive. She tried to convince her in-laws and parents to wait for 2 years. They both concentrated on their career growth so that they can support their families and get ready for future responsibilities too. 3 years passed, and again everyone started to ask about kids.
In fact, Anand is also ready for a kid. But Anitha is afraid of the physical turmoil and labor pains which she had heard from others. She keeps saying she is not ready to get pregnant. Although she's not ready she was forced for it and she couldn't conceive for many days. Both consulted a doctor and started to take medicine.
After a few days Anitha conceived, all became very happy. Everyone looked after her carefully. But unexpectedly, it was an accidental miscarriage for her. This happened twice for her. Anitha's in-laws and parents were disappointed. When they went for a doctor's examination. Doctor told due to weakness and medical reasons her womb cannot carry the fetus.
Knowing this she became very depressed and she kept on crying for not having a kid.
Also, she faced insults from others for not being able to give a baby. But her family and husband were at her side and supported her very much. They visited many temples, did poojas and prayed for a kid.
One day Anitha and Anand went to a hotel in which they saw a 2-year-old girl crying in the corner of a table. They enquired about her from the owner. He replied them that girl was left in hotel surroundings by some unknown person a few days ago. And from then, the hotel servants were taking care of the baby.
That incident moved them deeply. They both have decided to adopt that baby girl. They followed all formalities and took the little girl to their home. Her in-laws were shocked by seeing this and didn't accept this adoption. They started to say," adopted kid is not from our family and she doesn't have our blood. We don't know whose kid is this and what caste she belongs to. Besides all this, it's a girl and it's a huge responsibility to raise this girl. It's an unnecessary burden. Return her back or give her at an orphanage."
Anitha replied, " Uncle, will you say the same thing if it is our daughter? ". Anand's dad replied," No Anitha Why would I say that? That's a different thing. This kid is not ours".
Then Anitha said," How is that different Uncle. You love pets and earlier you brought few pets which were injured roadside and gave them new life. Anand and I are also doing the same thing. I may not able to give you a kid from my womb as you wish. But I can definitely give you the happiness of being grandparents. This little girl is a blessing and we should treat her as a gift from God. I am very happy that now I can able to taste the joy of motherhood. Instead of worrying, we should own this kid and give her a new life and love."
Anand also said like this, " yes dad, if we send this kid to an orphanage she may get shelter but cannot taste the love and concern of a family. And also we want a kid too. As Anitha said this kid is a Gift for us".
Anand's family got touched by this and accepted the kid's adoption. He asked Anitha
," What name you are going to keep her?". Anitha thought for a while and replied,
" She will be named as Deevena." with a smiling face.
